Why DIY isn't a great idea.

I know it has crossed your mind - how hard can making your own wedding invitations and stationery be right? Just like making your own wedding cake - all those tik toks make it seem soo easy-peasy but by the time you buy all the ingredients, watch a tonne of youtube videos and spend hours and hours only to look like something from 'Nailed it'!

Making your own wedding invitations can seem like a cost-effective and personal way to invite your guests to your special day, however, it may not always be the best idea. Here are a few reasons why:

  1. Time-consuming
Wedding planning is already a demanding task on top of your full time job and even study. Creating your own invitations can take up a lot of time that could be spent on other important tasks. It is not a 15 minute Canva project! There is design time, revisions, ordering cardstock and envelopes, printing invitations, printing envelopes (face melting emoji), cutting every single card, collating and posting. That is looking at about 10-12 hours if you know what you are doing and have the right equipment!

  2. Limited design options
Without the proper design software or skills, you may be limited in your ability to create a truly custom invitation that reflects your style and vision. The little details that make the design look really professional are just not available on online platforms or your standard desktop applications.

  3. Quality
DIY invitations may not have the professional quality (design, printing and execution) of professionally designed wedding invitations, which can affect the overall look and feel of your special day. Printing on your office printer after hours or worse - cheap online printers just won't cut it when you want something elevated. The colours might be off and the card stock feeling cheap and nasty.

  4. Error-prone
There is always the risk of making mistakes when printing and assembling your own invitations, which can be time-consuming and costly to fix and result in a less polished final product. As a professional graphic designer, I have a meticulous eye for detail and create your invitations and stationery carefully to avoid errors in design and printing. Making sure everything is the perfect size, colour and will print perfectly.

While making your own wedding invitations can seem like a good idea, the time, effort, and potential mistakes may not be worth it in the end. It may be a better choice to invest in professionally designed and printed invitations that will reflect the beauty and significance of your wedding day.

I will be able to work with you to create a custom design that truly reflects your personal style and the theme of your wedding. The design and print will be high-quality and polished that will make a great impression on your guests. I will create a cohesive look for all of your wedding stationery, including the invitation cards, RSVP cards, information cards through to the welcome sign, seating plan, bar sign and thank-you cards, to ensure that everything looks and feels cohesive.

I can help to elevate the look and feel of your wedding invitations and stationery, save you time, and provide peace of mind knowing that your invitations are going to be a show stopper.
