Top 4 mistakes in sending out your save the dates.

1. Sending them too early. – It is best to send out your save the dates 1 year out from your wedding day. This allows your guests to plan and save if needed. Any more than 1 year people may put it off and forget because it is too early to book annual leave, flights or even a hotel room.

2. Sending out save the dates before you have finalised your (realistic) wedding budget and booked your big ticket items. This can have the biggest repercussions and cause a lot of stress if you need to cull some guests to cut costs. (awkward!)

3. Sending save the dates to people you are not 100% certain on. A lot can happen in 12 months – couples unfortunately often learn who their real friends are when they are planning a wedding.

4. Adding too much info. Save the dates are just that, telling people to mark your wedding date in their calendar. All you need to tell them at this stage is your names (of course!) the date (duh!) and rough location. At this early stage, other details may change to keep it brief!
